Cover Page

Dear colleagues!

In the latest issue of   Polytrauma journal we tried to highlight the most important and promising studies on key issues of polytrauma, as well as other related aspects of providing assistance to victims.
This issue opens with an article devoted to identifying the efficiency and safety rating of an innovative enteral mixture containing a metabiotic complex and β-glucans when used in the postoperative period in a nutritional support program for patients with closed craniocerebral injury.
A study by surgeons is related to the solution of the urgent problem of treating severe liver injury, which is always accompanied by blood loss and shock, is often combined and is characterized by the complexity of performing surgical hemostasis. In order to improve the results of surgical treatment of such patients, the authors propose the use of the author's method of hemostasis based on liver tamponade.
The works of traumatologists and orthopedists, which cover a variety of issues, deserves attention: they are devoted to studying the characteristics of surgical treatment of acetabular fractures in patients with polytrauma, analyzing the frequency of postoperative acute kidney injury and the prevalence of its predictors in patients who have undergone hip and knee arthroplasty, as well as assessing the outcomes of treating trochanteric fractures of the femur using the method of bone osteosynthesis.
Trauma in children is always associated with special approaches to diagnostics and medical care. Thus, treatment of traumatic brain injury in children largely depends on the quality of primary diagnostics and clinical and instrumental quality control of treatment. In this regard, the presented study of the clinical role of determining neuron-specific enolase in the blood in diagnosing traumatic brain injury in children is interesting.
The issue covers extensively the issues of rehabilitation of patients with consequences of traumatic injury to the spine and spinal cord at the cervical level: the authors examine secondary health conditions and the level of independence in everyday life, as well as the function of external respiration in such patients.
Our colleagues also shared an interesting clinical observation of the treatment of an extensive wound defect using an improved technique of dosed stretching of soft tissues.
I hope that on the pages of today's issue you will be able to find answers to many important and topical questions. We invite you to continue the discussion on the most interesting of them on the pages of our journal.

 Best regards,
Chief Editor, Honored Doctor of RF,
MD, PhD, professor, academician of RANS V.V. Agadzhanyan
